Position:  ITINERANT ASSISTANT TEACHER- PT Back Mountain

Qualifications:  *Minimum qualifications per Head Start regulations
(for Federally Funded classrooms):

Child Development Associate (CDA) credential for Preschool setting; OR
be enrolled in an AA/BA degree program; OR
be enrolled in a program with ability to obtain a CDA as required by Federal Head Start Performance Standards and the Head Start Act of 2007 within 2 years of hire.

Responsibilities/Duties (Summary):  To assist the Head Start Teacher in planning and carrying out educational activities to meet the HS Performance Standards and local plan. Implement educational activities by providing and maintaining an atmosphere in the classroom that promotes school readiness and developmentally appropriate practices for 3 and 4-year old children.

Position is transient in nature with assignments in different centers and/or classrooms, based on agency need

Terms of Employment:  REQUIREMENTS to be satisfied PRIOR TO HIRE:
a) Proof of Degree/Certification and experience required to meet the qualifications for position
b) FBI Fingerprint Clearance
c) Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Record Check
d) Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance
e) Successful completion of Pre-Employment Physical Examination which includes a Tuberculosis screening (arrangements made upon conditional offer of employment)

LOCATION AND HOURS:
(1) BACK MOUNTAIN CENTER, St. Paul's Church, Dallas; Requires travel to and between Dallas, Tunkhannock and Mehoopany Centers as needed; Part Time, 30 hrs/wk, M-F

The Itinerant position has various classroom assignments; Flexibility in a working schedule is a must to be available 8AM-4PM

*Starting Salary (Hourly) - based on individual's education:
$11.49/hr-AA degree in Early Childhood Education
$10.88/hr-CDA credential
$10.37/hr-GED/HS only

*Classification: Non-Exempt Status; 10-month position (Aug-June)
